SAFETY POLICY
Purpose
The purpose of this Safety Policy is to promote a safe playing environment for all participants and reduce risk of injury during league play, events, and tournaments.
1. Participant Responsibility All players participate at their own risk and are responsible for: Being physically able to participate Wearing appropriate athletic footwear Using proper equipment Staying hydrated Stopping play if injured Players should not play while ill, injured, or under the influence of substances that impair ability. 2. Court Safety The teams should: Inspect courts for obvious hazards when possible Remove debris or moisture if observed Report unsafe court conditions to the opposing captain Ensure nets and equipment are properly secured Play may be delayed or stopped for: Wet courts Lightning or severe weather Unsafe surfaces 3. Equipment Safety Only approved pickleball paddles and balls may be used Protective eyewear is strongly encouraged 4. Injury Response If an injury occurs: Play stops immediately; provide assistance as needed. Contact emergency services if necessary. Submit an incident report. Players are responsible for their own medical costs. | 5. Heat & Weather Policy The league may modify or cancel play due to: Extreme heat or cold Lightning Severe weather Water breaks are encouraged. Shade should be used when available. 6. Emergency Preparedness At league events, attendees should know: Facility address Location of AED (if available) Emergency contact procedures 7. Conduct & Safety Unsafe or reckless behavior is not permitted, including: Throwing paddles Aggressive play Verbal altercations that escalate Players may be removed for unsafe conduct. 8. Youth Safety (if applicable) Minors must: Have parent/guardian consent Be supervised when required 9. Waiver Requirement All participants must sign a liability waiver prior to participation. 10. Incident Reporting Any injury, unsafe condition, or safety concern should be reported to league officials as soon as possible. |
